  • Los Angeles architect Ray Kappe build a terraced house for his family back in 1967, and the results are still resonate today. I like how the interior spaces flow into one another, passing through one half the level up to the breakfast nook and kitchen and out of there to the hill overgrown. A variety of built-in furniture have all been there since the construction of the house. In addition to wood and concrete, the other key ingredient in the house is a quarter-inch glass-pane: no space without natural light source, either from the skylight, window mitered corner, or clerestories. Exposed wood and raw concrete around the home offset with bold colors.
